I just inherited an 8 year old Weber that was set for natural gas. I want to convert back to propane. I already have the hose with propane attachment. Also, there is a 6" rubber hose coming from manifold that has what looks like a metal filter cannister of some sort. Is the supposed to stay there when I convert it back? Weber says they don't sell kits anymore, they say I need new manifold. The guy I got the grill from says he never replaced manifold, thought that MAYBE the installer drilled out to orifice, but that;s not even certain. I live in Denver CO, where and how can I go about converting this grill back. Any help is appreciated.

you need the manifold. Weber can tell you if it was built as an LP or NG unit from the serial number. you might try finding a manifold from someone needing to convert to NG that you could trade out manifolds with. if you are going to use a tank you need the hose with the regulator. that might be what you describe as a metal filter ?
