Hi. I have installed a DSC-550 in a stand alone Garage.
I installed a magenetic switch on the Garage Door (Zone #1)
Installed a Motion Dector on Zone #2.
I reset to factory defaults. This gives 30 second entry and 120second exit delay. On the Garage door. But the motion has no delay It goes off instantially. The motion over sees the whole garage so when I enter, The alarm sounds before I can dissarm.
I tried Programing a delay in the zone#2 Motion but was unsecussful? I understood the installers manual to enter
*+8+ (installers code)+[0120] The last four digts were the section01+ the zone#2 + standard delay=0.
Where am I not understanding the manual ???
How can I make this work??
The reason I wanted the motion was if they opened the door and came back after the serien timed out it would sound an alarm If they entered the Garage.
I'm not even sure that it would work that way??
Can any one advise me on these Two Questions!
Thank You!

The PC 550 is extremely simple. You are giving it credit for greater complexity than it has.
The entry should be
*8 [installer code]
01 (zone programming)
xx (zone 1 setting)
xx (zone 2 setting)
xx (zone 3 setting)
xx (zone 4 setting)
In your case the correct entry would have been *8 [installer code] 01 00 03 01 01
This sete zone 1 to delay, zone 2 to interior stay/away following the entry delay, and zone 3 & 4 to instant (unlike later models, you just can't disable the unused zones, you have to dummy load them).
This system doesn't have the ability to view a programming location, so you have to keep track of what you are doing.
Read over the manual, especially page 8 and 9. The programming syntax isn't very intuitive.

Thank You, for the reply!
By "dummy load" do you mean install a resistor?
Set up this way If the door in zone #1 is opened and and alarm sounds and times out, Will the motion on zone #2 sound and alarm if the door is still open and there is a second attempt? Will there be a delay?
Thank You!

Motions set this way are "followers". If a delay is being timed from an entry/exit door, then the motion follows that delay, if the delay isn't being timed (such as the example of the door being left open until the siren times out) then the motion reverts to instant.

Thanks for the reply! You said I could't Disable Zones 3 & 4.
I would need to "Dummy Load" them. By "Dummy Load" do you mean to install a resistor ???

Yes, install the zone resistor. Sorry, I thought it was a basic electrical/electronic concept...

Would that Resistor be a 2000 ohm??? The manual gives a Value I don't understand?
I would rather ask the question and appear ignorant !
Than to Guess at it and prove myself stupid!

No, the zone wiring diagram on page 3 _and_ the overall diagram at the back of the manual shows 5600 ohms as the value (that's 5.6K ohms). That green blue red for the first 3 stripes. Ignore the watt rating they list, for this purpose it's meaningless.
