We have one recessed light that keeps burning out. It may last one or two months but that is about it. We have about ten lights in the kitchen, all the cans are the type you can use in close proximity to insulation. The wattage is what is recommended by the manufacture. 90% of the other lights have lasted since installed 3 years ago. I am not sure what the problem is, they are tight in the socket, do not flicker and it look as bright as the others. I know it is at the end of the circuit could that be the problem. The light bulbs are the mini flood style about 2" in diameter.

My guess is the light is near a door or below a walkway. Many times vibration will cause the filaments to break. See if you can find a rough service in that type or find one that is rated 130 volts.

Tolyn,
Everything you say sounds logical but there is an attic above the light and only cupboards near by. 6 other lights are in the same proximity as the one that is causing the problem so I am still at a loss. I just get tired of bring the bulb back to Home Depot as the box says it has a 2 year life span and I am getting no where near that.

Try a different brand of bulb or shift one of the older bulbs that have lasted longer to that socket.

The quoted lifespan for bulbs is quite misleading. If you check it may say something like 4 hours per day for 2 years. I don't think that is really representative of typical bulb usage.
