Hi,
I seem to be in a weird mode in my DSC 5010 alarm system, and I am trying to understand what is happening.
Hardware: PC5010 board, 2 LCD keypads (LCD5500Z and a LCD5501Z).
I did the whole wiring, as well as all the programming. I only have 1 partition.
Here is the behavior I don't understand. When the keypad is idle, I see the date and time. I can then enter my code and this will arm the alarm, and I can enter it again to disarm. Up to here all is fine.
BUT, if I want to enter programming mode, I am supposed to enter "*8", right? But as soon as I press "*", I see the following: "Press (*) for <> Zone 1". If I press ">" is than shows "Press (*) for <> Zone 2". If I press ">" again it comes back to "Zone 1".
1- I don't understand why it does that
2- I don't understand why only zones 1 and 2 are "available" in that mode.. although I have 6 zones. Zone 1 is the front entrance and zone 2 a movement detector.
Now, if I press "*" when is says "Zone 2", it then says "Selecting Zone 2"... and then it says "Zone 2 is unavailable". And then the keypad seems "stuck"/unavailable. I need to press and hold "#" for 3 seconds to exit this mode.
3- My movement detector seems working, as tested with my Installed Walk Test, why does it say it is unavailable?
Now, if I press the "*" when Zone 1 is displayed, it says "Selecting Zone 1", and THEN I am in the mode where it says "Enter code to arm system". From THERE, I can press "*8" to enter the programmer mode.
Is there a bit somewhere that I forgot to flip or something..? I have everything else working.. just this..
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

I think you programmed you keypad as "global" by entering the keypad address with a leading zero instead of a 1.
Look in your instructions for "Partition functions"
You need to do the press # then select 1 for partiton 1, then you can get into programming to set the keypad address correctly.
