We installed a wrought iron fence, but we now need a privacy fence.
Instead of tearing the wrought iron fence down and reinstalling a privacy fence, I wondered if it is possible to go buy 5 x 8 sections of wood fencing and attached them to the wrought iron fence somehow. Seems to me this would be much cheaper and faster, and at least we would be using the wrought iron fence for something.
Anyone have any input on this?
Thank you

A privacy fence will need better foundations for the posts than wrought iron fence when the wind blows.
Do you have any idea how the existing posts are installed? - dirt, gravel, concrete? - Depth? - Width?
Most things are built to code or the worst possible and still be legal (same thing) for what is initially installed, since people usually look for a cheap price.
Did they anticipate a privacy fence when the wrought iron posts were installed?
You could be installing what could end up being a wood sidewalk after a good wind.

Ill go out tomorrow and take a real good look at my fence posts for our current fence. Im 99% sure they were all set in concrete. The posts are approx 2" x 2". The wrought iron is about 3 1/2 feet tall.
If structure is a problem, I wonder if I could dig a trench along my current fence line and set the entire wood fence in concrete and the attach it at the top to the wrought iron fence.
As soon as i figure out how to make a picture album, Ill stick a couple of pics of my fence on here.
