Just sprayed old pruning sealant (probably tar-based) on a tree and got spots all over my brand new sandstone patio pavers. Very unhappy! Any ideas how to remove it without spreading the spots of black stuff further over the surface? Thanks for any help you can offer!

wd 40 applied to the area scrubbie or plastic scraper and then rinse with rubbing alcohol after toweling off as much of the sealant as possible

Just a note as well....no professional arborist/nurseryman would recommend using any sort of pruning seal on a cut limb or branch. Prune at the proper time and let the tree heal naturally. The sealer can actually prevent the wound from healing.
