So here is the story. I have the Ademco alarm (second owner so I don't know the codes) and I'm pretty sure it is the Vista-10SE. Yesterday, I started to get an intermittant beep. It was very random. It could be every five minutes or every thirty minutes. Either way, it wouldn't stop. When this happened last time (about 18 months ago), I replaced the rechargable battery. This time, I did the same thing. Unfortunately, this time, the beeping has not stopped. What do I do now? How do I turn this thing off? Any troubleshooting would be most helpful. Thanks!

I would look for loose screw terminals or wires at the AUX POWER (4 & 5) terminals in the main control. If your keypads are not indicating any troubles, they may be just losing power, perhaps when changing the battery you may have shaken the terminals and they made a better connection temporarily.

Thanks - I double-checked the connections and nothing. Then I decided that I would try and fix the problem another day since it was driving me nuts so I unplugged the battery and the plug from the outlet and the thing is still freaking beeping! If I go to the keypad, it doesn't show me any power at all but yet it still beeps. I thought maybe the motion sensors?? Any other ideas? Could there be any extra juice in the system similar to when you pull a battery out of a smoke detector?

Please help as I'm not going to be able to sleep since every time it goes off, my dog barks and thinks somebody is walking in the front door.

Are you certain that the beeping is coming from the keypad or your electric smoke detectors? Often times it's difficult to pinpoint where the beeping is coming from. Is there a smoke detector near the keypad? Put your ear right on the keypad to confirm. The motions don't beep.

I agree, if the battery AND transformer are both unplugged (and the keypad lights are out even when you push the * button) then it's definitely not the alarm system that's doing the beeping! happy beep-hunting... Last time I did that I found one of the kids toys under the shoe storage bench in the entry. It had a button stuck on and the batteries almost dead so it would start to chirp and then die, then start over again 2 hours later. It took me 2 days to find that thing because I would hear it and go over there and wait for almost an hour one time and then nothing for another hour after I left that spot (Arrgh!).

My system is an Ademco AT - it states 4140XM on the inside of the box. It too is beeping from the wall keypad. (no children - for beeping toy somewhere)
We have 2 located on different floors and both of them are beeping. I have unplugged everything and it still beeps. The keypad is blank. It beeps about every 30 seconds and has been doing that for about 12 hours straight. What next? I have checked all connections, batteries, and fuses. I can't sleep. Help!

Have you unplugged the battery in the large metal box with the main circuit board, _and_ either unplugged the transformer from its wall outlet or removed one of the wires from the first two terminals on the main circuit board?

If you have done those two things, and are still hearing beeping, it _cannot_be_coming_from_the_alarm_.
