I have a 2003 KitchenAid KUDP01ILBL1. When I push the start button it fills w/water, heats up, hums, then stops. I tried a couple of settings combinations to no avail. When I press cancel it pumps the water out and shuts off.

I only have used the washer 5-6 times a month (no kids-5 cats). Never leaving much waste on plates, etc.

Any ideas what the problem is and how I might diagnose it?

The humming is the wash pump trying to start. The first thing to check is the chopper to see if it's jammed, broken, etc. If that's ok then it's possible the wash pump motor is jammed, has a bad bearing or the proper voltage is not going to the motor.. Locate the tech sheet in the machine to see how to access the components. Here is a link to the tech sheet:

service manual:

Let us know what you find. Thanks.

OK, nothing in the chopper. There isn't a whole lot to grab on to, just the small black gear the chopper engages, but to the extent I can get my fingers around it, no way I can turn it.

What now?

it sounds like the motor bearing is probably bad. try taking the motor/pump assembly out, separate the motor from the pump and run it. How much voltage are you getting to the pump motor?

Its the pump motor. Am replacing.

Thanks for the direction.
