The salt in my kinetico water softener brine tank was solid so I cleaned the tank added new salt and then used the manual regenerated the system. It was still going a few hours later so I bypassed the system and tried again. It ran continuously again. What could be causing it to continuosly regenterate when it was working perfectly before the salt solidified?

Not sure why that would happen. Maybe something got in the valve when you washed the brine drum out. Was the water in the drum very dirty? Visibly dirty?
Do you use a prefilter? How old is the system? What model do you have?

The water was visibly dirty. The house has a prefilter but the unit does not. I cannot find the model number on it. It has two tanks and the brine tank. There is an air bubble in the gear area with the manual regeneration screw. I was able to get the water to stop by slowly turning the screw while in service mode until it was almost done with the backwash. I found that informtion from one of your previous threads. The water stopped flowing on its own. It sounds like the timer gears are moving. How do I tell if the unit is softening again? Should I just test the water? Is the air bubble a problem.
Thanks,
Dan

The air bubble is normal and proper. Don't worry about that.
Yes, you can test teh water with a hardness tester. Just take a shower and make note if the water feels soft due to good lather and silky feeling.
If the filter comes before the softener, then it is a prefilter whether it is connected to the softener or not.
Run some water and put your ear to the valve. You will be able the hear the gears metering.
