I havent seen one in years. Now i know why. The permastone header that had broken off and was 'hanging' above my garage door had moisture from the break and the ants took up residence. Also i had a birds nest in there too lol

Today they took down the header and the 2x8s were virtually gone. I'd say 80+ percent of the wood was eaten away. There's a steel beam behind there so they just put new wood up today and capped with aluminum

I read on a few sites that the ants dont like fresh wood but i was thinking i should go buy a few bombs and put them in the garage. I do have somewhat of a crawlspace above my garage but i've never been up there. I figure a bomb downstairs and one up there should pretty much kill anything

i also have some old poison to mix and spray so i may do the outside and some of the interior where the ants were

does this sound like the best way to handle this?

may/not be related but about 75 feet from the other side of the house, i had tons of those carpenters in a rotting tree. thats all been removed now.
