Years ago I came across a heavy, long, about 20”, steel pin or rod with a tapered point of about 15”. It was very useful, but when I moved last time I gave it up. Does anyone know the commercial use for these and what type of store would sell them. I’m thinking that it might be used to form a barrier around edge of flat bed truck or trailer, with several plugged into holes. Any ideas? Thanks.

Your description sounds like a drift pin. These are used by iron workers to line up holes when hanging steel beams:

Thanks for the help.
It looks like the Klein 3251 Standard Bull Pin is the one. 1 1/16 x 15 in with 3/8 dia point. Sure wish I had kept it! Just got rid of too much to lighten the load in the last move!
