i have a 75 hp merc. with a 1 ram trim , my trim works intermittenly, if i tap the trim motor it works fine for a while , what do i have to replace ?

Well it can be a couple things.
If it moves in one direction but not the other as in up but not down it's most likely a silonoid.
If it does nothing check to make sure it is getting power and a ground. On a 2 wire system the power and ground switch as it goes up or down. A three wire system the ground stays the same but power is applied to the 2 other wires blue for up and green for down.
If it's getting power and a good ground it can be a bad electric motor.
If the motor is spinning you will hear it and it does nothing you're most likely going to need a complete pump.
