I've just inherited a newer washer and dryer comb and was wondering if there is any cleaning or maintenance that i should perform on them before i install them.
The washer is a GHW9100LW2 and the dryer is a GEW9200LW1.
Thanks,
Steve

Dryer take off the lower panel and clean lint out. While there take off lint chute and clean that. Remember to take lint screen out before you take chute off. Do not have dryer plugged in. Most important be sure the lint tube to outside is clean.
If you want take lower panel off washer check to see if pump coin trap is clean. While there get tech sheet either in front panel ot taped to side. Follow instructions on running a test. Level washer with 2 or 3 towels in it on high spin. I first make sure all the feet are tight to the floor (no wobble) get machine to high spin with wet towels and adjust the easiest front leg to reach. adjust to the least amount of vibration.
Let us know how it came out

Sounds good. I'll do that first. It looks as though the drum of the dryer has some sort of blue tint to it. Any idea what i can safely clean it with? It may be dye of some sort, but i'm not sure.

The tint is probably just caused by someone using dryer sheets in it..not something to be concerned about IMO.
It also wouldn't hurt to run the washer on the heavy/long cycle empty with cold water and pour about 1/2 gal of white vinegar in...helps remove odors and old deposits.

Can you add a half gallon of fluid like that to a front entry washer?

Don't know why not.....unless its very different from any I've seen. Just put what you can in..then run it.

Blue stain is from blue clothes (jeans), If around a millarty base usually green stain. Nothing I know will clean it off.

that blue stain is the primer under the white paint. dont try to remove it.

I suppose the clothes wear the paint until the primer shows through? I would have thought it was thicker than that, but then jeans and shoes are pretty tough stuff too.
I pulled the front covers off both machines, and cleaned out the coin trap and the lint chute. Alot of stuff came out the dryer vent tube when i tilted it up, but i used the vacuum to clean in out also.
Should have them fired up tomorrow. Going to try the water/vinegar thing then. Thanks for the help. Now over to the landscaping section for my next problem.

Hey i just noticed that the old dryer had a four prong plug and the new one has a three. Can i switch power cords, or do i need to switch the wall socket?
