Hello all,

I was so thankful to come across this site full of helpful and resourceful people--especially since I couldn't find an answer to my specific problem anywhere on the web.

I used a spray on stain remover on my white duvet cover (:wall: so stupid and careless--it was just spaghetti sauce, I could've just washed it out) and it turned into a purple stain. I've put it in the wash now, not sure whether or not that will help, but I was hoping for further advice. It's urgent, as I'm staying in university housing and will be charged $30 if the stain is permanent. :(

Thanks in advance for your responses!

most of the over the counter stain removers are a oxidizer of some sort...so its a bleaching agent...basicly it doesnt remove the stain it just removes the dyes in the stain so you cant see it...sometimes they just dont remove the stain..they also attack the color in the fabric..the bright colors such as red, blues seem to be the most effected

but alot of times its because of the quality of the fabric too....but i do think it is permanent..you can try washing it to make sure its not residue
