Hello,

I have Youngstown kitchen cabinets. I need the latching mechanism that holds the door closed. It is the part that is on the cabinet itself. The cabinets are very old and these parts are starting to break. Replacing the cabinets is not an option. These cabinets are without a doubt the best ever built.

I would also entertain any recommendation to fix them with parts readily available. I do not want to modify the cabinets in any way. I tried these flexible magnets from a craft store. They were not strong enough to hold the doors closed.

Thanks.

There are a number of more robust magnet / cabinet closures out there...one style that I have found to be very effective is one that has a magnet that sits between two small metal plates this is in a small plastic frame that screws to the side of the face frame...it is adjustable in postion front to back by screw slots. A small metal plate is screwed to the door that lines up with the magnet plates. The metal plates on either side of the magnet increse the magnetic power. I have used these on cabinets that had twisted doors, its stong enough to pull in about 1/4" of twsit.
