i have a 7 or 8 year old sears model #22442100 washing machine.the belt was off the shaft,but i can't see where that it goes to the second shaft.can you show me a picture or a diagram of this item.iknow the transmission is bolted with 3 bolts but what how do you get the shaft off to put on the belt?? any info would be appreciated. thanks.

Generally speaking, you have to remove the water pump off the shaft, often with an allen or torx wrench (some models just slip off while other models hold the water pump to the shaft with an allen set screw) to slip the belt around the pulley. Then you have to pick the correct water pump mounting studs to either be inside of or outside of, so the belt does not hit any of those mounting studs when the idler pulley is under tension.
A piece of cake once you have got one of these jobs under your belt. But can be frustrating/time consuming the first time around. I think some belts come in a plastic bag that shows the routing at the pulleys, but I'm not sure. Appliance parts stores can bring up drawings for you. Mine does, when need be, anyway.
Tilting the machine, on a blanket, on it's side, can make the job so you do not have to work upside down like a contortionist.

you have a direct drive washer with no belt

So he thought the belt just disappeared somewhere, if all he did was presume it had a belt? :confused:
