Found a lighting fixture at Ikea that would be perfect for a pool table, but by looking at it, it needs to be hard wired in, as i am only renting the house i'm in, was wondering if it was possible to connect a plug at the end to connect into a power socket....
Some extra info that might be needed:
The light fixture is a 3x Baton Fixture (Same as what would be in a bedroom) and i am in Australia, so its 240v/10a

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated

this info may or may not help:

when i bought a used light fixture it had a plug on it. I just cut off the plug and wired it in place of the existing ceiling light. No issues at all. So i dont see why you couldnt just add back a plug and plug it right in. I'm assuming electricity works the same down under as up here :)

It can be done without much issue if you have fexiable cord with proper plug attachment but if stiff cable like standard building wire { typically 2.5mm˛} it may not work very well depending on the type of plug you will be using { I know some case you may have to use the fused plug verison }

Typically either black or blue is netural while red or brown is live { it depending on type of cord you use so just watch out on that part and green with yellow strip is earth connection }

Merci,Marc

Thanks for the replies, that's what I thought, but needed a little reassurance from people who know more than me about this (which isn't hard)
I'll give it a shot, and hey, you never know, might even improve my game
Many thanks once again

Just a quick message to say thanks for the help once again, picked up the lights and cables and everything this weekend, and have just installed it and it works fantastically.... and looks pretty damn good too :D
