hi, looking to install marble in the living room den near/around the fireplace. currrently there is natural stone and brick in this area.

I'm thinking to just go with thinset right on top of stone and brick and lay the marble ? It's pretty level and flat, so i'm thinking this is okay to do?

it won't get wet in that area, so i think i don't need to use cement board.

any suggestions would be great.
thanks
