how many coats of paint do you put on a wooden picnic table. i just put the 2nd coat on. im using a latex enamel paint. i scrapped off most of the old paint before putting on the new.

Did you prime the raw areas?

Generally 2 coats of finish is best although a case could be made for just applying 1 coat and then recoating yearly [or however needed depending on how it's weathered]

i kinda want a smooth finish so i guess i should have primed first. the orignal color was like a dark brown.
