Entertainment Center: TVs, Stereos, VCRs and DVDs - Daewoo DV-500 & Crown CDV771 DVD Players

hello everyone, i am new to this forum and i am looking to enhance my knowledge in several areas of this forum. I have two faulty dvd players and i was wondering if they could be fixed, so here goes:

The first is a Daewoo DV-500 DVD Player:

Problems:
No display, No buttons respond

Analysis:
Removed casing
Checked fuse on pcb and plug fuse and both seem ok.
Green standby light stays on constantly.
I can see the white disk on top of the laser unit spin for roughly 30 seconds when the player is first plugged in.
All cables are correctly inserted into appropriate circuit boards.


The second on is a Crown CDV771 DVD Player:

Problems:
No power

Analysis:
Removed casing and checked fuse on the plug and pcb. There are also signs of rust on the inside - possible water damage?


I know you guys would know a lot more than me about this kind of thing! So i'll leave it to the pro's!!!

Your not going to find any parts to fix these units even if you know the faulty one.These were made to use and throw away when they break.

Talking hypothetically; if could get another unit (which may be possible) surely the repair(s) could be carried out?
However, i wouldn't know where to start?!
For example if the pcb is damaged and i had a replacement i could fix it up right?

Yes it's possible.Why destroy a working unit to fix a broken one?

sorry i didnt quite explain myself properly! what i mean't to say is if i have one with a faulty drive and the other has a faulty pcb i could get the drive or pcb out the other one to fix one unit?

If they are the exact same model.But the exact same models most often have the exact same parts go bad. :wall:
