I pulled the carpet off of the stairs and the landing leading into my condo. Today I had a contractor sand, stain, and then poly the stairs and landing, he finished at about 4PM. He used an oil based poly, he said it would take longer to dry than water but it would be better in the long run.

He told me that I would be able to use the stairs in the morning. This is the only way in or out of my condo.

I just want to confirm that I could step on the landing and stairs in the morning, roughly 16 hours after they finished? I've heard 24 hours minimum before, I don't want to mess anything up.

They should be ok in the morning for light traffic. It takes about 72hrs for the poly to cure. It wouldn't hurt to use the stairs in your stocking feet tomorrow - if feasable:D

Ok, tomorrow I'll wear my thigh highs on the stairs :eek::eek:

I could get by in my socks and put my shoes on outside. Thanks for the reply.
