Yikes! I was just cleaning my bathroom, using Lysol bathroom cleaner on the vanity and sink. I had a new package of sponges that I sat on the vanity which wasn't quite dry. The ink from the sponge packaging stained the counter with perfect purple mirror image lettering. I used the Lysol to try to scrub it off - nada. The sink/vanity is made of whatever condo bathrooms were sold with in the Eighties; certainly not granite or travertine, just faux something.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum! Well, it's hard to get dyes out, especially red based ones. I've been able to get it off (or at least lighten it somewhat) with a powdered cleanser like Comet or a cleaner with bleach. You have to be careful tho, because sometimes these things will also lighten the countertop a little, too, so you might want to try a very small spot first.

Thanks for the welcome. I like your user name!
I figured it out. I had some Clorox bathroom cleaner in another bathroom and sprayed the stain with it. It's not straight Clorox so it didn't alter the color but after about half a dozen applications and scrubbing (sponge only - didn't want to make it worse than it is) it's nearly gone. Only one line of the text is noticeable but very faint. I'll work on it tonight.
Thanks, me!
PS - love this site. Great information and helpful people.
