Bricks, Masonry, Asphalt and Concrete - water leaking into house between slab foundation and wall

have some water leakage from outside during heavy texas rain storms have installed a new drain outside but sometimes rain is so heavy in short time it cannot keep up which leads to ponding of water for a short time in that time water leaks into the house from between the slab foundation and the wall my question is can i take off my baseboards inside and run a bead of caulk of some kind all the way around to prevent this from happening have even thought about running a bead outside in the space between the bricks and the slab any help would be greatly appreciated i am at a loss at this thanks:wall:

Sounds like a grade/slope problem. Look at the area in question. The soil should slope down to carry water away from your house. I think the minimum slope is something like 6" for every 10'.

If that doesn't do it, check out French Drains to help move the water away more quickly.

Any repeated exposure to water will cause rot. Don't go the caulk rout -- that's just avoiding the real problem.
