I have a Broadway widespread lav faucet bought in 2000 with cross handles in chrome. Trying to get to stem as hot water is leaking. I knew I had an uphill battle when I discovered Broadway is out of business and ceramic stems really don't last a "lifetime." But I never thought I would have trouble removing the cross handles. I can pop the buttons easily, but there is no screw underneath. There is a hole that is a few inches deep. I have stuck a philips and several hex wrenches down and tried to turn, but they don't grab on anything. How the heck do these cross handles come off? Obviously any other advice on replacing the stem would be helpful as my skill level is not at all what I thought it was. Thank you!

I have some parts diagrams of Broadway faucets. The older ones had a screw in the middle. It looks like the newer ones...you might turn the whole "bell" trim, and there is some indication from the parts list that the cold side might turn CCW, and the hot side CW. Try both ways...gently!
Getting them off ....but what's next? I don't think there is any source of cartridges and stems for Broadway. except maybe:::::
The Broadway brand ended up being owned by Ingersol Rand, who got it because it just came along with some other enterprise they wanted to purchase and of course promptly dumped it. But the last I heard, recently even, they were still maintaining some semblance of warranty support for the faucets. I think you have to show original ownership. They probably still have some stems and cartridges. You can find Ingersol Rand on google.

Got it! Thank you. The bell turned CW and lifted off. No reason why the cross handle has a button. Now I can't get the stem out! There is a small copper retaining clip on the step at the base above the nut. I pop the clip... nothing. I turn the nut counter clockwise and I can see it unscrewing but then it stops and won't go further. I hold the lower part with channel lock pliers and the nut still won't advance further. Should the stem pull up after I pull the retaining clip? I tried to pull, but I don't want to use to much force. Thanks again for all the help!
