I recently pulled up a lot of pachysandra in my yard. Now I need to level out that part of the yard. I ws going to order topsoil but ordered compost instead. It was 1/2 the price and I was told that it could be used as a fill for leveling the yard.

Further research says that compost is usually used to mix with topsoil. If I go with my plan, the compost will mix with soil but it will be mostly compost.

Should I go with the compost or is topsoil a better bet?

thanks

Topsoil is going to be a better filler than compost alone unless you have soil to mix with it.Compost by itself is organic material that will eventually decompose and is generally used as a soil additive.Using all or mostly soil will fill on a more permanent basis.
