Trying to green my lawn up - should I add iron? I don't want to fertilizer tall fescue during the hot summer months, but it needs to be greened up. Would ironite or an alternative work? Will this hurt the lawn if I put it down in hot weather?

You might be better off using Scott's Summerizer lawn food. This would be more balanced yet not over doing it.Ironite can help green your lawn up but you'd probably want to do a soil test first to find out if that's really what your lawn needs.

I had a soil test done in the fall, and everything was okay. They just told me to put down nitrogen. The phosphorus was pretty high, not sure if this makes a difference or not. I think putting down fertilizer on tall fescue in the summer is not such a great thing to do in my area (central Virginia).

Are there any signs of iron deficiency? The grass is is little bit yellow in areas on the top of the blade, but it's kind of random.

I live in Chesterfield. The only lawn product used usually this time of year is weed and feed but if you don't want to kill weeds then a similar formula of fertilizer without the weed killer can be done if desired. As for ironite I don't think you would hurt the lawn but I can't tell you if you actually need it or not.Don't fertilize and use ironite together. Also another somewhat vauge possibility is that the lawn is reacting to the extreme wetness we have had for several months.July and August would be the less desired time to heavily fertilize.A dose of 10-10-10 is also a possibility the difference being lawn food products feed for multiple months whereas 10-10-10 type fertilizers feed all in one bounce and are gone within a few weeks tops, with the rain of late even quicker.
