My PC1555 trouble indicator came on. I did *2 and light 1 lighted up. Installers manual says hit 1 to find trouble, and when I do that, the LED panel just beeps.
I just assumed it was a battery problem, so I happened to have another sealed lead-acid battery, and swapped them out, but I still get the error.
Is this the actual problem?
Is there a way to do a reset of the whole system without losing my programming?
I just use the alarm as a noise maker, it isn't monitored at the moment, and I have full installer access to the panel, however I don't want to have to go through programming in the wireless zones, bypass zones, etc.
Thanks in advance!

It can take up to 24 hours for the system to retest the battery and notice that there's a new one. Did you load test the battery?

trip the alarm to sound the siren, dis-arm & see what happens. you will also see a memory of what just caused the alarm, this will disappear once arm & dis-armed again.
The lit trouble LED will clear after a few hours
NOTHING except the clock time & date will be lost with total power loss (dead battery & loss of A/C.)

24 hours later, and I still had the low battery warning. What I ended up doing was pulling the battery and the ac from the panel, then enabling the ac and then the battery. Reset the clock, and I am back to normal.
I don't know why I didn't think of that before, except I guess I thought the battery would have prevented weirdness if the power dropped out momentarily (it did a few days ago). I don't know why a brown out two days ago would cause a problem 12 hours later... but weirder things have happened I guess.
Thanks for the suggestions!

DSC panels are notoriously odd about certain troubles, like clearing battery and telephone communication troubles. Sometimes the only fix seems to be a shut down and restart.

Well, it's gotten weirder now... On one keypad only, it has a trouble light now, saying 2 (which is AC failure). The trouble light would turn off every now and again, (like off five seconds, on for ten). The other keypad doesn't have a trouble light on.
I unplugged the AC line from the keypad and reconnected, set the alarm and then unset it.
Now, both have the trouble light flashing that pattern. I disconnected the AC and reconnected it (saw a little spark, so I know the AC is connected)... same error.
I guess my next step is to disconnect the battery and AC again, let it sit for ten minutes and reconnect and see what happens.
I think the panel got fried from a transient. :(

Ummm, is that the _trouble_ light (i.e. system light with the 2 showing when you press *2) or are you seeing a zone led coming on and off?
These panels do use a MOV (a solid state "circuit breaker") on the primary power input and it is not uncommon for these to fail after a power hiccup, especially on an older system.
Do you have an actual meter? Diagnosis based on sparks is a bit less than informative.

That is correct.. system light 2 when I push *2...
I do have an old analog meter (think size of tank), but the lead is less than perfect. I always mean to buy a digital multimeter, but I used to have two of them, and I swear one day they will turn up.
I guess I should just bite the bullet and purchase one. What is the AC voltage I should be receiving, 16vac?

maybe your transformer is the issue. why did you have a low battery in the first place. check the wiring on the transfomer to make sure they are tight.

Again, the problem seemed to resolve itself after I left. Maybe it took some time to cycle after I unplugged everything and put it back normal for it to reset the trouble lights.
I will keep an eye on it, and if it acts up again, I will post again.
Thank you all for your suggestions/help!
