Lawns - New fescue sod - should I mow it yet?

I put in new sod (fescue) 9 days ago. It looks happy, green, and healthy. I have been watering it daily. I keep hearing don't mow it for the first few weeks, but it is already about 4" tall. Is it OK to mow it this early if I put my mower on the highest setting or should I just keep waiting?

Jeannie, 4" is what it should be at the cut level. Remember, the taller your grass, the more shade the roots have and the healthier it will be. Give it another week, raise your mower height to the highest setting and mow it. I know it is tempting. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
