how do I deter birds (herons and cormorants) from taking goldfish from my large garden pond? I've tried scaring, scarecrows, noises all to no avail

There is only one way that I know of - BIRD NETTING! It's a black plastic netting with approx. 1" square openings. Suspend approx. 1' above water surface to foil the herons or they'll go right through to try to get fish. Also,extend beyond edge of pool for a buffer space. The netting is available in large sizes at your local garden store, big box garden center, and in garden supply catalogs.

Oh Peter, I have the same problem and for a long time I had a decoy in the pond ( a Canada Goose) I was sure it worked until last week so I had to resort to netting. I wish there were another solution.

Oh Peter, I have the same problem and for a long time I had a decoy in the pond ( a Canada Goose) I was sure it worked until last week so I had to resort to netting. I wish there were another solution.
