Hello,

I have a troybilt TB565CS trimmer purchased two years ago from Lowe's. Today, my trimmer seems to not engage some of the attachments.

My trimmer and edger attachments do not spin once I hook it up to the main drive. However, the blower attachment does work?

I removed the attachments and visualized the main shaft from the engine spinning. However, as soon as I hook up the attachment I get zero spinning or very little. It sounds like something is spinning inside the head but the trimmer spool and edger blade does not spin. Any ideas?

THanks,

Joey

Is the cable in the shaft intact? Does the end look messed up like it has been slipping? Does the cable turn when you turn the head of the non-working pieces?

The cable and shaft closest to the motor is spinning fine. It seems like it is not reaching inside the cable but I am securing it the way it is supposed to attach?

I guess my next step is to take the trimmer head of and apart?

Does the cable in the attachment turn when you turn the head of it?

Hello,

Checked and the shaft from the trimmer head is rotating fine. Also, the shaft from the motor is rotating.

Today I attempted to trim and the trimmer worked fine up to about 10 minutes. An audible sound is heard and I believe something disengages in the head of the motor?

I manually rotated the trimmer head and started the engine. The engine engaged and I was able to trim about another 5 minutes. Then, the trimmer did the same thing. Disengages and the head does not rotate. I think it's something on the motor side?

Thx for any help,

JB

You may have to loosen the clamp that holds the engine to the first shaft, and slide the shaft farther into the engine housing. I'm thinkig the cable is barely engaging the clutch drum.

Thanks cheese,

Is something fairly basic, or should I have a small engine mechanic do it?

Very basic. Just loosen the clamping bolt, slide the shaft in, and tighten the clamp. The clamping bolt may be part of the handle, or under the handle, but it's right at the front of the engine where the boom fits into it.

Thanks cheese,

I should be able to find a diagram on the troybilt website right? I will check and let you know. Thanks for all the help!
