The washer is a Kenmore Ultra Fabric Care II 90 series model 110.92591220. My wife is threatening to replace both washer and dryer and spend $2000 (bye bye big TV screen and computer) if I don't fix this, and I desperately need your help.
She said it's about 10 years old and sounds like it's working but the 'barrel' inside isn't agitating, moving or spinning. She said it appears to go throught all the wash cycles ok. Water fills up the round tub and drains ok also.
Unfortunately, we can't find the owner's manual and I can't find any references or pdf files on the web either. A couple of questions:
1. Anyone know what the problem is and possible fixes?
2. If not, is there a place to buy the manual for this thing, and
3. Is this a direct drive model (I'm not sure what it is but I heard it mention a couple of times in the message forums).
Thank you.

manual:
Technical Reference - Job Aids (http://www.servicematters.com/tech_ref/JA/ja_main.htm)
it's a direct drive
1. do you hear any noise at all when it goes into spin mode?
If no, try bypassing the lid switch.
2. check the drive coupling, sometimes they'll agitate ok but won't spin if the couping is marginal
3. check the clutch, the manual tells you what to look for

if motor is turning and the clutch disk is not spinning 99% chance its the coupler.
if clutch is spinning 90% chance the clutch is oil soaked and need to replace the clutch, gearcase and coupler
