Hi folks. Sorry if I put this in the wrong spot, I'm new here.

Anyway, I bought myself a condo a month ago and it came with a broken garbage disposal and I got some money taken off because of it. So, I went and got a new one and installed it and everything was fine. Then a few days ago, I turned it on and and it started rattleing really bad, like it would if you left a spoon in it. But, there's nothing it in. My drain hole in the sink is too small to fit my whole hand in so I can just barely feel around with my fingertips, but as far as I can tell everything is fine and in place, but it still makes that loud rattle grinding noise when I flip it on. All I can think of is maybe a screw or something fell in my sink and down the drain and I didn't see?

Any ideas on how I can fix this? I no longer have the box it came in and can't find the reciept so I doubt I can return it. Can I just take it off and turn it upside down and hope something jammed will fall out? am I just going to have to replace it, again? I guess that's what I get for buying the cheapest one on the shelf...

Once you take it off, you should be able to see inside.

You'd be amazed what can make it sound like that. Fibrous stuff like celery and squash can clog it pretty bad. Try dropping a cut up lemon or orange and some ice cubes in..sometimes that will dislodge and clean stuff out.

Also..try a flashlight and a small mirror if you have one.

thanks, i'll try some ice cubes. I was afraid to put anything in there because I didn't want it to break even more.

Well...I'd prob try and inspect it first...a flashlight and a butter knife might let you see if anything is in there.

But..if its broken somehow now..it will still be broken later.

That's not a bad idea. Especially if you can spin it with say that allen tool if it has that.

What is the brand/model name of this disposal...and how much did you pay for it?
