I have searched to the end of the internet and I can't find the answer to this question....I put up slate 1x2 tiles on my backsplash and i like the look of the tile and grout wet, so do I have to use an expensive enhancer or would something like HD's $10 gloss sealer achieve the same result?

Don't use the cheap stuff you find at a big box. It may look alright when first applied, but it will wear considerably faster then the better stuff. Look into Aquamix (http://www.aquamix.com/products/pg_detail.asp?pdid=32973&pgid=37155) or a Stone Tech product (http://www.stonetechstore.com/products.asp?cat=15). They are a little more expensive, but well worth the money.
