My Contractor is priming my new bathroom with BIN 123. The ammonia odor is very strong. We have opened all the windows & turned on ceiling fans. I will be painting my sewing room shortly. Is there a primer that doesnt have that awful odor? I am in the process of taking down the wallpaper in that room now. Thanks! Jina

Is it BIN or Bullseye 123? BIN is shellac based and very strong odor....Bullseye 123 is a latex primer and shouldn't be too bad smellwise. Been a while since I used either one though..

Primer Sealers from Zinsser - drywall primer, exterior paint primer (http://www.zinsser.com/subcat.asp?CategoryID=1)

Jina your sewing room may or may not need a primer. If all the adhesive is removed and the wall doesn't get scarred up with the paper removal process - you probably don't need a primer. If any adhesive is left on the wall and you can't get it off - use zinnser's gradz for a primer.

Fresh air ventilation is always the best method for paint odor removal.
