I just bought my house less than a month ago and the 'person' doing repairs on this place makes me look like a pro!

Anyhow, I have a door that wouldn't shut to one of my bathrooms. I noticed that he unscrewed the bottom hinge from the door so it would somewhat shut.

You can see where what it looks like.

I removed the carpet tack and the bar.

Here is where I'm not sure.

I would think the carpet is too far into the bathroom and needs to be trimmed so the door can shut otherwise I'd have to trim the door.

Once I finish up and have to put something down to cover the end of the carpet, what should I use since it is concrete underneath the carpet?

Thanks!

I believe carpet is normally trimmed just under the front edge of the door. Use a straight edge and cut it with a razor knife.

There are plenty of options for trim or thresholds..they can be attached with hardened nails, concrete screws or adhesive.

It would have been a lot easier to just trim the bottom of the door. It doesn't look like the carpet was too long if it was a z-bar.

that was my first thought also but the amount that I would have to trim the door would either leave little or no wood at the bottom. I'd have to trim around an inch off the door.

It's a cheap door and I am not replacing it for this part of the house. At least not for now.

Thanks for the info.
