Softeners are sized by flow rate and capacity. Most softeners will deliver the flow rate, but knowing the hardness, iron and other impurities and # in family will determine the size.

As far as types, I am an avid believer in the Fleck 5600 metered system. I've worked with them for over 19 yrs and have found they are very reliable and dependable.

So your first step is to find out what is in your water. Post the results and someone will advise you of your best selection.

Go to wqa.org and click on "Find a Water Professional"
Look for companies in your area that aren't just WQA members, but also have at least one CWS-I on staff. That will tell you that they have made a commitment to ethics, professionalism, and are better educated than the average. They should be able to perform the on-site testing that you need and provide you with good advice.

Good Luck !
