i am removing a 30 inch door unit from the back of my house.(door is only 3 years old). I want to frame it in, do not need the exit anymore. do i have to remove the header or can i just put studs in the existing opening and close it up?

No, you can leave the header, install studs and close it in. HOWEVER, if it is the only other means of exiting the house, you can't close it up. You must maintain methods of egress in the event of a fire or other catastrophe.
