My dad wants to give me a Murray 12.5 HP 40" Cut riding mower. He had it worked on, new belt put on but when he is cutting, the belt slips. He has looked under seat for model number, or serial number but it is gone. Does anyone know where else he can find the serial number so we can get the right belt put on?

Ususally the model / serial # is under the seat, is it scratched off??
What about under the hood / underside or on the engine itself. Sometimes under the foot rest / running boards depending on the make / MFG.

It isn't under the seat, it has been removed, and he is wondering where else he might find it cause it appears to be hidden pretty well.
Thanks for the suggestions, will tell him to look everywhere he can.

Look on the back panel above the hitch hole.
