Walls and Ceilings - Hot walls

I live in an older house (1950s), CBS, in which the interior walls have lost their original (if any) insulation. My bedroom wall receives most of the sun and in turn the interior walls are literally hot to the touch and remains warm into the evening. It also has mildewed over the last few years as have the bathroom ceilings. My question is what can I do about this? Hang new dry wall over the original walls? Cork board? I'm willing to try just about anything except for covering the exterior walls with siding or tearing out the old drywall or sheet rock. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi paigar. Probably 2x4 walls. You can pull an enectric outlet or switch cover and look beside the bos to get an idea as to what is there already. Your options will range from blowing in new insulation in the walls and ceiling to new siding over a couple of inches of rigid insulation.

How big of a project do you want to get into? Usually, if there is little or no insulation, a good place to start is to get some estimates for blown in cellulose.

I don't recommend blow-in insulation at all.

Often blown insulation is the only viable option unless you want to go thru the trouble of ripping the wall covering off of the exterior walls [inside or out]
