I recently purchase a new heat pump and it is darn small. I had a 4 ton comfortmaker and I got a PH13 Payne. How do I tell if it is a 4 ton? Thanks!

Get the model number off the unit. The last few digits are an indication of its tonnage. If you can't decode the model number, either call the company or repost here.

Payne Heating & Cooling, Model: PH13; and the serial: 4008X73451.

I tried to look in the owners manual, and I've googled it to no avail. Seems this industry keeps things pretty close to the vest. Haven't tried the company phone, but the websites not much help

Thanks for the kickback dac122!Beer 4U2

Please repost the full model number. Have you tried the AHRI diretory (http://www.ahridirectory.org/ahridirectory/pages/home.aspx)?

Jeesh, I thought I knew how to read an owners manual. After ya'll asked I looked again and I think this is it.

I'll try that link.

The 048 is your model's code for 48000 BTUs or less depending on the indoor coil. So you have a 4 ton unit.

Go to the AHRI directory and plug in PH13NR048 heat pump and you will get the full specs on your unit when mated with various indoor coils.
