I am in the process of choosing a painter for my exterior house painting.
I got quotes from painters who are using different brands.
One is Pratt and Lambert, SW and California paints.
We will be using their latex solid stain for top coats and oil primer for the first coat.
Do you have experience with any of these brands and is any better than the other.?
Thanks in advance for the input.

As long as the painter is using his brand's top line, they should all do a good job. While I've used P&L's coatings in the past I'm not sure if I've used their latex stain. I've not used a lot of P&L, I've not used any california paint - it isn't available here. I've used a lot of SWP coatings and can highly recomend their top grade latex stain [not the promar although it's decent] and their oil base A-100 primer.

I would ask to look at houses that each of these painters has recently completed, to be sure you'll be happy with the look and the technique, at a minimum ask for references and call them.
