Walls and Ceilings - Vinegar and water for removing popcorn

I have searched this and the Plastering forum and not seen any posts on using a vinegar & water mixture to make it easier to remove popcorn ceilings. Has anyone been successful doing this? Is there any reason not to do it?

Edited to ask: Is there a good tool for scraping 8 ft ceilings from floor level? All that up and down on a ladder seems like a lot of work. Thanks in advance :)

I don't know what benifit there would be in adding vinegar. Unpainted texture is water soluable. Water and elbow grease is all that's needed to remove popcorn.... that and containing and cleaning up the mess:eek:

I suppose you could gently use a floor scraper or attach a handle to your hand scraper but you will have better control with your hands closer to the work. You could use a rolling section of scaffolding......

I could only sit through 1/2 that video. Put lightweight painter's plastic on your doors and walls, spray water on run this over, with or without the bags:

Never used one, might work., I use a floor scraper, long handeled, with two layers of plastic on the floor, one taped down, the other loose and heavier gauge to throw away with waste texture. Be safe, G
