I bought 3 units at Lowes for my back and side yards. Basically, simple unit that mounts to the wall or roof overhang, 1 motion sensor and 2 bulbs.

Since I bought my home, I decided to only go with CFL bulbs and that includes the spotlights I bought for the motion sensors.

The bad news is that the bulbs and the motion sensors don't get along. The first problem I have is the Soft-start "Bulb Saver", which dims them on and off. CFLs hate the dimming. Second problem is when they're on, they flicker, probably because there's not enough power being used for the motion sensor to detect a load. Third problem is they're producing a loud 60Hz feedback which can be heard from the circuit breaker and even through certain audio devices in my house.

Someone out there has to make motion sensor units specifically for outdoor CFL bulbs.

From my past experice the motion sensor and CFL are not useally good combation due the motion sensor don't listed with CFL due min loading requirement and alot of motion sensor are useally two wire format they need some kind load to read it properly.

to slove it get diffrent bulb like indensenct bulbs like 65 or 90 w PAR floodlights that will useally slove the issue there.

If you really want to use the CFL you may end up putting in a relay to slove the cuprit there.

Merci,Marc

Well, I would prefer keeping the CFLs and finding motion sensors that can handle the reduced load. So far I haven't found much on google or local stores.
