We just purchased a Panasonic Viera Plasma TV and a upconverting Panasonic home theater. We have a cable box.
I put the HDMI cable from the cable box to the TV and a HDMI cable from the tv to the home theater. I then put the red and white audio cable from the tv to the home theater. We have sound when the tv is only on but no sound when we try to watch tv with the home theater on. What did I do wrong?

Welcome to the forums.
It would help if you could post the model numbers of both devices. If the home theater has an HDMI input, try connecting the HDMI from the cable box to the home theater, then from the Home Theater to the TV. In this case the RCA red & white shouldn't be needed.
Or, connect the red & white audio outs from the cable box directly to the red & white inputs of the home theater.

We have a Panasonic DVD Home Theater Sound System Model #: SC-PT770 and a Panasonic Plasma HDTV Model #: TC-P42S1.
I tried doing the Red and White cable from the cable box to the home theater and that did not work either.
Is there maybe a internal setting that I need to change?
I even tried the cable box (red/white) to the tv and the tv (red/white) to the home theater.
Thanks for the help!!
