I'm still trying to figure out how a heat pump can work with only one TXV. All the illustrations I see show 2 TXVs with check valves. My installer is saying it will work with just one, located at the air handler. Can this be right?
Also want to know if it is so critical I have 1 1/8" line on the 40' run suction side line for my 4 ton unit, what happens when it goes into heat mode and that little 3/8" line becomes the suction side?

I've never seen 2 txvs. Always 1 in the air handler.
