Dear Abby,

I have done a few slab pours with my Father-In-Law and he loves having the concrete sloppy wet. I want to do an exposed aggregate finish on my next project. I am afraid if the mix is too wet, the aggregate will settle to the bottom, and I’ll end up little aggregate on the surface. Will the wetness of the mix make difference?

It may possibly make a difference as far as the aggregate sinking, but it will definitely make a difference in decreased strength of the concrete and its potential for cracking. Wet concrete shrinks a lot more during curing and causes shrinkage cracks.
