I've got several evergreen hedges in front of my house and it seems that I have two major problems. First, a couple of the largest ones seem to be infested with mosquitos. When I water them there seems to be a cloud of them. I've tried an insecticide spray, but is there anything else that I could do? Second, I had cut them back last fall and for the most part they have shown lots of new growth, except for the front of one of the largest, again the one that seems to be infested with mosqitos. All along the front side of the bush is brown - but not totally dead, just seems to have no new growth there either.

Any ideas as to what would be causing this browning?
