Me and my girlfriend are new to gardening and we planted about 15 green onions in a very large planter and they have very good room to grow. She likes table onions to just eat with salt but anyways here is my problem and looking for help. Well they are growing very long stems about 7 inch's right now and an animal bit off about 4 inchs on a lot of them and pulled one of the onions out. Will the onions survive with many of the stems bit in half? Also the one bulb that was pulled from the dirt looked like the size of a quarter and she thinks they are going to all die, they have only been in the garden since a week before mothers day and she wants to pull them all in fear they are going to die. Are they going to die and is there anything I can do? Please help to calm down stressed out gf lol.

Welcome to the forums! Aaah, fresh onions. Great that you enjoy them enough to plant some. Don't worry too much about the remaining onions, as they should be ok. I would put a little fence around them to keep the animal from getting to them and pulling them up. Also, move the planter from overhangs like your deck railing, as animals can drop in over your fencing. They are eating the best part. I always eat the onion bulb as a fresh garnish, and cut up on the green about half way up like chives to cook with, so not much goes to waste.
