I have dark dark brown maple drawers. I was cooking rice today and I wasn't paying attention and the hot water stared flowing out of the rice cooker and dripped down the drawers below it. I wiped the mess up but now it looks like it left on long line mark on the drawers. I tried using pledge to clean it off but it wont come off.:madhell:

Any suggestions?

Turtle wax polishing compound and scratch remover (one product) from any automotive supply store will take the marks off.

Apply according to directions.

Long story short: the water heated up the finish and allowed moisture to become trapped in the finish. The Turtle Wax will remove the top film of finish and remove the trapped moisture.

Thanks George. Will that ruin the current cabinet finish?

If its ok, do I need to do anything to protect the part of the finish that I scraped off?

This will not hurt the finish. This product contains a very fine abrasive and will remover just enough of the finish to remove the trapped moisture.

You may find you have to do the entire surface in order to even out the sheen.

a re-application of finish should not be necessary.

I have used this product to remove white watermarks and "cloudiness" in finishes for years and have never had to recoat.

Another application will probably remove the rest...
