I have water hammer when zone 4 is turning on
I have no other water hammer on any other zones
I have no other water hammer in the house
I have a PRV but no back flow prevention device
I have 60psi in the house
I have 5 rotary heads on zone 4
Zone 4 is the last zone to turn on
Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this issue?
Thanks in advance for your help

The most likely problem is that your valve needs to be replaced. If you are outside near that zone/valve, I bet you can hear the hammering in the pipes as well.
If this is a new issue for you, replace the valve. If this is a continuing issue since the system was put in then you need a hammer arrester to be installed by a plumber or yourself, if you feel comfortable doing that.

Thanks for the advice. I guess the question is, if it is a bad valve is it zone 3 (shutting off) or zone 4 (opening up)?
I'm not sure if it has done this since the day it was installed. The system was installed in the house before purchasing it.
Thanks again for the advice.

Its a problem with the zone not opening, or not opening and staying open. It kind of "flutters" and causes that hammering. Not the best description but I can't think of a better one at the moment.

Actually that makes sense. That is one of the other suggestions I recieved...that the zone 4 valve is opening and closing. This would make sense due to the fact that there is usually 3 or 4 bangs (hammer) when zone 4 is opening.
